Exterior Backlot

ExteriorsAn extensive backlot (160,000 square meters), used profusely by filmmakers, is located immediately adjacent to Barrandov’s stages. It includes an artificial embankment and natural horizon and is not encumbered with any of the distracting elements of „modern civilization„.

Three pools are available, of which the largest (measuring 20 meters in length, 10 in width, and 4 meters deep) allows for set construction and water heated up to 27°C, even during the winter months.

This backlot just happens to be the site where films such as Oliver Twist, Brothers Grimm, Joan of Arc and A Knight’s Tale. were created. The pool was the location where the flooded subway train compartment scene for Sound of Thunder was filmed.
