New Parking Lot for Filmmakers

NEW PARKING AREA CONSTRUCTED AT BARRANDOV FOR FILMMAKERS

Just recently, Barrandov Studios opened an entirely new parking lot for its customers. The parking area, measuring 5,625 square meters, was constructed on the spot originally occupied by a wood storage shed and is located close to Barrandov’s recently opened MAX soundstage complex. It is designed not only for parking vehicles, but can also be used to create a mobile environment for shooting films and commercials. There are 173 parking spaces, of which eight are reserved for persons with decreased mobility. There are four hook-up locations (for electricity, water supply, and sewage). The total investment for this project amounted to more than five million crowns.

New Parking Lot“Until now, parking at Barrandov was very complicated and didn’t fully cover the needs of our customers. Taking this into consideration, our goal was also to increase the quality of the environment and services we provide to film crews and production companies that use Barrandov for shooting films and commercials,” explains Ing. Vladimira Mejtska of Barrandov Studios management. She adds that the construction of the new vehicle parking area took place in two phases over a period of six months.

Some time ago, Barrandov Studios shareholders decided to invest in a significant manner. Starting in 2005 and up through the end of this June, more than 200 million crowns have been targeted at constructing new buildings, modernization, reconstruction, and repairs. “The largest investment of the past few years is the construction of the new MAX soundstage complex, which came in at approximately 200 million crowns and was opened last December,” according to Vladimira Mejtska. The most sizable and interesting of this year’s investments include the construction of a new multifunctional utility area, which expanded the modern storage and production areas available to film projects, and the new modernized screening room, which, with its equipment and the technology it uses, is unique in the Czech Republic.
