Barrandov Studios and Panavision

BARRANDOV STUDIOS AND PANAVISION TO FORM PARTNERSHIP

Barrandov Studios and the multinational Panavision have agreed to form a partnership. Earlier this month, representatives from both companies signed a contract, on the basis of which Panavision camera and grip equipment will share newly-constructed facilities built on Barrandov premises with the Barrandov Studios camera rental division starting early next year.

According to Vladimir Kuba, Barrandov Studios General Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors, “The affiliation between Panavision and Barrandov Studios represents a world-class partnership. With the completion of our new stages last December, we can now provide filmmakers with onsite support, modern equipment, and facilities that are comparable with the world’s best.”

Bob Beitcher, Panavision’s CEO said, “Panavision has had a long association with films choosing Barrandov Studios, including such recent titles as ‘Wanted’, ‘Babylon’, and ‘Faubourg 36’, as well as numerous other films over a fifteen year period. Barrandov Studios is firmly on the map of the major US studios choosing to shoot in Europe and we intend on being in the heart of Europe.” He went on to add that the building in which the company will find its new home is now being constructed on Barrandov Studios premises.

Panavision, which was established in 1954, is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-precision camera systems, including film and digital cameras, lenses, and various accessories for the film and television industries. Panavision rents out its equipment through domestic and international facilities that it owns and operates and also has its own network of distributors. In addition, Panavision supplies sets, along with lighting, grips, and crane equipment for use in film and television productions.
