Music for Animated Megafilm

MUSIC FOR THE ANIMATED MEGAFILM "PIRATES WHO DON’T DO ANYTHING" RECORDED IN PRAGUE

Several days ago, the Smecky Recording Studio completed taping the music for the new animated megafilm "The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything". The eighty-member orchestra was directed by Adam and Mario Klemens at the Smecky Recording Studio, which is a part of Barrandov Studios.

”Recording the music for “The Pirates Who Don‘t Do Anything” took five eight-hour days. Ten recording frequencies were required for the eighty-member orchestra,” according to Juraj Durovic, Smecky Recording Studio’s director. The animated megafilm, belonging to Universal and produced by Big Idea, will premier in December. More information on the film is available at www.veggiepirates.com.

Over the past several years, a number of recordings have been made at Smecky for films such as “Lost Highway” (directed by David Lynch), “The Ninth Gate” (directed by Roman Polanski), “The Portrait of a Lady” (directed by Jane Campion), “Kolya” (directed by Jan Sverak), and “Todo sobre mi madre” (“All About My Mother”) (directed by Pedro Almodovar).

The Smecky Recording Studio is located in the center of Prague, just a few steps away from Wenceslas Square. Its history dates back to the 1940s. The Film Symphonic Orchestra was established in 1947 and provided the recordings for Barrandov Film Studios, Kratky Film, and Czechoslovak Television for several decades. In 1990, the Smecky Recording Studios converted over to a “Hollywood” model and now offers comprehensive recording services – primarily coordinating conductors, sound experts, and musical scoring.

The studio’s space capacity allows recordings to be made with an entire symphonic orchestra, including chorus. Its acoustical value and the technical expertise of the entire team are highly valued. The most modern technology available is used for sound recordings (HD ProTools, monitoring 5.1). The studio is available for recording all musical genres for film and video, including Dolby Stereo.
